The Story

THE BEGINNING

I was a US tax advisor assisting companies in various industries to prepare, file, and reduce their taxes. It was challenging and very detail-oriented work, but I wasn’t growing in the ways I wanted to. Then, I landed an opportunity in Hong Kong, but after three years, I just ended up asking myself: “Why am I doing this?” I realized I wasn’t understanding or solving problems for people, so I decided to leave my tax job to pursue a career involving more human connection.

THEN

I networked and was lucky enough to collaborate with some designers. Among them, the user experience designers embodied an approachable, helpful, honest and curious nature that resonated with me, and they were always eager to share their experiences. With their wisdom and unbound enthusiasm, I decided to become a UX designer.

NOW

I’ve learned I enjoy observing people and learning more about the problem-solving aspects of design, particularly research. I am currently honing my design toolkit and looking for opportunities to become an in-house product designer.
